Getting Rid of Glasses

If you want to get rid of your glasses, there will two choices depending on your age.

If you are between age of 20-45 laser refractive surgery which basically makes a a tattoo of your myopic, hypermetropic or astigmatic error to your cornea (outer layer of your eye) can give you a glasses free clear vision. You can check our laser refractive surgery page for details, options and pricing laser refractive surgery.

After age of 45, eye starts to lose the ability to focus for near objects which is called presbyopia. People can not read small print at first and with increasing age they can not see their telephones, computers, navigation screens and dashboards of their cars.

This problem is the result of aging of our natural lens which is inside of the eye. It is not possible to correct this problem with laser refractive surgery so we have to change the aged natural lens of the eye with an artificial intraocular lens. By this way patients can see far, intermediate and near distance without glasses. This procedure is called refractive lens surgery of RLE.

You can check our refractive lens surgery and intarocular lens pages page for details, options and pricing.

How can you get rid of glasses?

If you want to get rid of glasses, you have several options:

  1. Contact Lenses: These are a common alternative to glasses. They correct vision while being nearly invisible. However, they require proper hygiene and care.
  2. Laser Eye Surgery (LASIK): LASIK is a popular surgical procedure that reshapes the cornea to correct vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It's a quick procedure with a short recovery time, but not everyone is a candidate for LASIK.
  3. Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK): Similar to LASIK, PRK reshapes the cornea to correct vision. It has a longer recovery time compared to LASIK, but can be an option for those who are not suitable for LASIK.
  4. Implantable Lenses: These are lenses that are surgically implanted into the eye. They can be an option for those who are not candidates for LASIK or PRK.
  5. Orthokeratology (Ortho-K): This involves wearing specially designed rigid contact lenses overnight to temporarily reshape the cornea. This can provide clear vision during the day without the need for glasses or contact lenses.
  6. Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE): This procedure is similar to cataract surgery and involves replacing the eye's natural lens with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). This can correct severe refractive errors and is often used for presbyopia or high hyperopia.
  7. Lifestyle and Vision Therapy: In some cases, vision therapy exercises can help improve vision naturally. This is more common for addressing issues like strabismus (crossed eyes) or certain focusing problems.

Each option has its own set of benefits, risks, and suitability criteria. Consulting with an eye care professional is essential to determine the best course of action based on your specific vision needs and overall eye health.
